Another Swiss comeback! Italians blow 2-goal lead, stay at bottom

4. 6. 2017 | Petr Dejnožka
After a huge loss to the Czechs, Team Italy had a fantastic start in its second game. Jonathan Puliccio put the Italians ahead early in the game, but the Swiss once again orchestrated a big comeback. They scored three goals in eight minutes to take the lead very quickly. In the end, the Swiss won 6-3. Switzerland now has six points after three games, while Italy is still without any points.

Reactions

Yannick Sterchi (best player of Switzerland): We were down 2-0, nearly the same as on Saturday, we were down 3-0. But we came back. It was about the first goal and then we were back in the game. I have no idea what the problem in the start of our games is, we talk about it in the hotel, on the meetings before our games. We try to make this true but I really don’t know. We have to look at this now and try to find some answer. At every World Championship it is going like this, we start the tournament bad and then we go better and better. We will see what happens.

Michal Iustini (head coach of Italy): I don´t consider the cliché, that 2-0 lead is the worst lead ever, is absolutely true. However, we didn´t play continuously. The main reason of our loss is maybe too many penalties, we should reduce amount of them. Our team is newly compound and young too, players and staff are people from all over the world, so the match with Switzerland was the second we play together.
