France beats Cayman Islands 5-3, reaches A-pool knockout stage

5. 6. 2017 | Petr Sumbal
France has had a good championship so far and their goal was to win against the Cayman Islands as well. They got off to a good start with a goal in the 3rd minute, and led 2-0 after one period. In second, the Caymanians scored a goal to cut the deficit in half, but were never able to get closer than that. With no points after two games in Group B3, the Cayman Islands have no chance to go through to the playoffs of the A-pool now.

Reactions

Stephane Lion (goaltender, Team France): It was a really important game. It was about promotion to the A group. We played against a very good team. I think we won because we stayed as team and everybody played well together. We didn’t let them play their game.

Matthew Halverson (head coach, Team Cayman Islands): I would like to thanks the fans; they are really helping us. It was a really tough game today. There were only a few minutes played 5-on-5 in this game, I think. We were dealing with diving. I´m glad that we managed to scored three goals. Ryan Pull scored two of them, but he is injured now. He had the best game that I´ve ever seen him play.
