Portugal destroys France in first period to move into quarter-finals

7. 6. 2017 | Marek Kratochvíl
The second cross-over game brought an easy-looking 5-2 victory for the Portuguese. A four-goal opening period and a hat-trick from Eric Camara secured Portugal the final spot in the quarter-finals and sets them to face Slovakia. France will further play for the A pool division for the next World Championship.

Reactions

Alex Bovoletis (coach of Team Portugal): They’re a good team. It’s an honor to play France and we had a good time. I think both teams started off a little defensively and after we got a few goals, things kind of opened up a little bit. It was a pleasure to play them. In games like this, you want to score early and often. The longer the game goes as a tie, the advantage goes to the other team. They played well, we played well and now we’re ready for Slovakia. We’re gonna continue to do what we’re doing.

Marc Slupski (forward of Team France): I think we played very bad in first period, specially in defense zone. We woke up after, but it was too late. For tommorow’s game we have to play from the beggining and work as a group.
