Hong Kong gets important win, but Caymanians make it close

8. 6. 2017 | Vít Trubička
The first period was balanced, with neither team able to generate any goals or even any real scoring chances. What chances did develop, goalies Matthew Lui and Robert Slipcenko were ready. Hong Kong took over in the second period, getting one goal early and two late. After making a goaltending change, the Cayman Islands came back to score twice in the third period and create a dramatic finish, but they were unable to get the third goal.

Reactions

Matthew Lui (goaltender, Team Hong Kong): It was a tough game. Both teams wanted to get to the final, but we got more lucky bounces. It was a one-goal game; it could have gone either way. Now we are in the finals!

Chris Yeramian (forward, Team Cayman Islands): Well, it was really difficult match from the beginning, but our team spirit worked well and we scored two goals. We took too many penalties in the second period and it was hard to control the result, and in the third we tried to take back control and make it a game, but overall it wasn’t good enough from our team.
