First British women‘s win after 6 long years

5. 6. 2017 | Vít Trubička
One goal was enough for the British women´s team to claim its first victory at the World Championships in six years. In the first period, no goals were scored. There were some chances, mainly from the Italian team, but nobody was able to finish around the net. British goalkeeper Rachel Johnston was especially good, stopping lots of Italian chances. The only goal came in the 19th minute from Becky Kasner. After that, the Italians fought hard for a draw, but were not successful.

Reactions

Becky Kasner (forward of Team Great Britain): The girls have been learning, we have taken it in positive learning way. We have thought about the mistakes, it means to correct them, to make a clean game. We played very smart hockey today. We have an awesome team.

Alicia Furletti Blomberg (forward of Team Italy): It was a great match. We always like play with Great Britain, they have great team and there are great people. They played hard today and so they won. I think that both team played a great game and had good shots, but it was a very close match. It was about one goal.
